A sign put up at FOSDEM in February called for helping the European Parliament. With what you might ask. Well, since "FOSDEM is the biggest free and non-commercial event organized by and for the community" it was pretty clear for the conference participants the "help" related to issues like getting out of vendor lock-in, use Open Standards etc etc.
The organisers of FOSDEM were very positive to this initative and also arranged for a short presentation between two other events at the conference on 6 February, a date which could be said to be the first public announcement of EPFSUG.
